1. How long does it take to design a website?

A typical website will take from 3-4 weeks to design and build, for an E-commerce website it may take 2-3 weeks longer. Here is what the web design process includes:

  • You fill out our web design worksheet that describes your goals for your web site, how many pages you would like it to be, the style, etc.
  • PC Developers lays out a web design preview/layouts for you to view and make comments on.
  • PC Developers codes the website and navigation.
  • You review the website and request any needed changes.
  • Website is posted to your domain name www.yourdomainname.com

2. What are the costs involved in having a web site designed?

PC Developers offers reasonable prices. While some web designers choose to list all of their web packages on their website with prices, we price each project individually because they can vary a lot in the amount of design time and coding time needed. The price quoted for your project will depend on the following factors:

  1. How many web pages you would like
  2. How many graphics you need designed
  3. How much animation you need on your website
  4. If you need database integration
  5. If you need custom scripts such as bulletin boards, email managers, etc.
  6. If you decide to have a custom design or use a pre-built template
  7. If you already have content written, or need assistance writing content

3. Can I modify my own website once you design it?

  • If it is an E-commerce site you may modify the product descriptions and pricing via a the built-in control panel
  • You may modify the code of the site once we design it in an html editor such as Microsoft Frontpage at your own risk

4. Where can I find pictures for my website if I do not already have them?

Here are some stock photo picture resources:

5. How many revisions can I make to the website during the design process?

We let you do up to 2 revisions of the site during the design process.  More than 2 revisions will require an additional fee.

6. Do you offer website maintenance?

Absolutely, please refer to our website maintenance service page.

7. What is web hosting?

Web hosting allows your website to be connected to the Internet at high speed via a Web server so its information can be viewed globally through a browser. Metaphorically speaking, renting space on a server is comparable to renting an apartment. For a monthly fee, you reside in that apartment and all maintenance is the responsibility of the property. You also have access to certain amenities that would otherwise be a costly investment. A Web hosting company houses your website on its own secure servers, enabling you to affordably leverage the power of a high-speed network, 24/7 expert monitoring and support, and state-of-the-art technology.

8. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept checks, cashier's checks, money orders and PayPal.

9. I want to buy a web template rather than have a custom design,
where can I buy one from?

We usually recommend that you have your website custom designed so that the look of your website is exactly the way you want and customized to your business. However, if you are on a very tight budget a website template can save some design time and cost. Here are some companies that you can buy a template from and have PC Developers add your content into:

10. I want PC Developers to design my website, what should I do next?

First, educate yourself by reading our Website 101 articles if you don't already have a good understanding of the World Wide Web and websites, then contact us by either giving us a call or by filling out a quote request.  Once you have contacted us, gather as much information about your business that would help us to design a site that will convey your message.  Then gather logos, graphics and photos that you would like to have appear on your site (hardcopy is fine, but electronic copies are preferred).  Finally, start looking at your competitor's sites and start compiling a list of what you like and dislike about them.  Become familiar with the different types of navigation that sites you like offer.  This will help you decide how to layout your site.  Start to think about a color scheme for your website.  The more you can communicate to us, the better!
